Welcome back, Trainers! In this installment of our look into the Pokémon of Generation 4, we'll look at the bee-like Combee and Vespiquen. Let's start.
Combee
ATTACK: 59 |
DEFENSE: 83 |
STAMINA: 60 |
MAX CP: 396 |
According to its Pokédex entries from Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, we know that a trio of Combee are together at hatch. They'll combine with other Combee in a honeycomb-like wall at night to sleep, and fly around during the day to please their queen Vespiquen.
We expect the evolution of Combee to Vespiquen to cost 50 Candy. In the main-series games, only female Combee (those with the red mark on their lowest head, as depicted above) could evolve into Vespiquen. It's unclear if that requirement will carry over into Pokémon GO.

PLACE IN THE META: Despite its queenly majesty, Vespiquen will be rather weak and useless in Pokémon GO. It just doesn't have the stats to keep up with other viable Bug- and Flying-types, such as Scizor and Rayquaza.
Vespiquen is a Bug-type and a Flying-type. This means it is weak to Electric-, Fire-, Steel-, Flying-, and Ice-type attacks, as well as very weak to Rock-type attacks. Vespiquen is also resistant to Bug-type moves, as well as highly-resistant to Fighting- and Grass-type moves.
LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Vespiquen:
Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Vespiquen:
Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Vespiquen's movepool:
LOOKING AHEAD: Looking beyond Generation 4, Vespiquen gains no evolution, Mega Evolution, or exclusive Z-Move.
