PLACE IN THE META: Many Pokémon that premiered in Pokémon Black and Pokémon White were "remakes" of older Pokémon. For example, Cubchoo and Beartic reimagined Teddiursa and Ursaring, and the Roggenrola line were reimaginings of the Geodude line.
Lillipup, Herdier, and Stoutland are loose reimaginings of the Hoenn region's early-game dogs: Poochyena and Mightyena. While one would expect these Pokémon to be rather useless and forgotten about in the powerhouse-only Pokémon GO metagame, Stoutland may actually have a shot in the spotlight.
While it will probably never exceed the occasional fun defender in the "PvE" system, its stats do make it a viable contender in the Great League. Mightyena already is a viable contender in that format, and with its better stats and the right movepool, Stoutland might be as well.
LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Stoutland:
Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Stoutland:
Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Stoutland's movepool:
LOOKING AHEAD: Looking beyond Generation 5, Stoutland gains no evolution, exclusive Z-Move, or Mega Evolution that is known of at this time.
