GEN 5 PREVIEW

PURRLOIN, LIEPARD
Last time we looked at what the Stoutland family might be like in Pokémon GO. But now it's time to move from dogs to cats, and take a look at Purrloin and Liepard.

PURRLOIN

  • CATEGORY: Devious Pokémon
  • PRONOUNCED: PUR-loyn
  • TYPE: Dark
  • HEIGHT: 1' 04"
  • WEIGHT: 22.3 lbs.
Picture

ATTACK:  98

DEFENSE:  73

STAMINA:  121

MAX  CP:  722

LIEPARD

  • CATEGORY: Cruel Pokémon
  • PRONOUNCED: LY-purd
  • TYPE: Dark
  • HEIGHT: 3' 07"
  • WEIGHT: 82.7 lbs.
Picture

ATTACK:  187

DEFENSE:  106

STAMINA:  162

MAX  CP:  1846

PLACE IN THE META: Liepard is the precursor to Alolan Persian. Comparing it to everyone's least favorite fat cat, Liepard is more offensive than it, with less Defense and Stamina. Alolan Persian's added defenses will probably make it superior to Liepard in Great League. And Liepard's unremarkable stats won't allow it to be useful in Gyms or Raids, meaning this Pokémon will probably collect dust in your inventory.

LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Liepard:
  • Charm
  • Shadow Claw
  • Snarl

Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Liepard:
  • Aerial Ace
  • Dark Pulse
  • Foul Play
  • Play Rough
  • Shadow Ball

Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Liepard's movepool:
  • Knock Off

LOOKING AHEAD: Looking beyond Generation 5, Liepard gains no evolution, exclusive Z-Move, or Mega Evolution that is known of at this time.
Thanks for reading, Trainers! The elemental monkey trio is taking the stage next, starting with Pansage and Simisage.
