After Regirock and the new Raid Bosses went live yesterday, a new update was released. Dataminers have been searching through the APK to see what's new, and they found quite a lot!
Our first finding comes from the amazing Chrales. He has found server-side coding for the Sinnoh Badge. This is the Pokédex badge for Generation 4. This badge did not has not made it into the client-side code yet (nor have the Pokémon of Sinnoh), but it is another sign that Niantic is trying to get the fourth generation out soon.
A new search functionality has been added. Typing "Lucky" into your search bar will pull up all of the Lucky Pokémon in your Pokémon Box.
While its coding is incomplete, new animations have been found for the move Meteor Mash. This is a Steel-type move, and one that has become one of Metagross' trademark attacks. Theoretically, this could be hinting towards a Beldum Community Day in the future, but we'll have to wait and see what becomes of this new attack.
PREPARING FOR YOKOSUKA
Multiple new badges have been added for the upcoming Pokémon GO Safari Zone in Yokosuka Japan. It seems, as with Pokémon GO Fest, each day and entrance gets its own badge. Speaking of GO Fest, its badge was updated so it would be its proper size and no longer enclosed by a bronze ring.
BERRY BUG FIXED
In the previous update, a major bug occurred that prevented Trainers from reentering Pokémon encounters if the Pokémon had already been fed a Berry. Thankfully, this bug has been resolved.
If you have befriended people in the game since the trading update, you'll know that you can see their last-caught Pokémon when you look at your friends list. There is know an option to hide this from your friends. To toggle it off, go to the settings menu.
The notifications at the top of your screen have gotten overhauled. Raid and friendship notifications now more closely resemble Buddy notifications. They also display more information, such as the start-time and level of a Raid.
A previous update brought an encounter glitch to those with AR Plus enabled. This glitch would have the camera swing around dramatically before resting on the Pokémon instead of the normal, smooth transition. This glitch was fixed by turning AR Plus off. Unfortunately, this glitch has also come to Android with this new version.
QR FRIEND CODES
It seems you will soon be able to share a QR code with other Trainers to add them to your friends list, giving you an option beyond typing the code.
EX RAID PASSES
Some very interesting coding has appeared related to EX Raid Passes. It appears you'll soon be able to share an EX Pass with another Trainer. That Trainer will have the option to accept or decline the invitation. This is going to be an interesting feature to check out once it goes live.
New code for the unreleased PokéStop submission system
Tweaks to Pokémon GO Plus
The Unity game engine was updated to 2017.4.6
Code to support finding Ditto from research rewards, a long-promised but never-released feature
The friends list no longer scrolls to the top after opening a Gift
Icon on the list to show you've sent a Gift to a Trainer that day
Thanks for reading, Trainers!
