Regigigas is the creator and so-called trio-master of Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. After Groudon created the land, Regigigas is said to have used ropes to drag the continents apart. This Pokémon is quite powerful, and we wouldn't be surprised if its high maximum CP caused Niantic to give it a slight nerf.
PLACE IN THE META: Regigigas is going to be... interesting. In the main-series games, Regigigas' immense power is counterbalanced by it Ability. The Ability, Slow Start, severely limits the Pokémon's might for the first few turns of battle. Essentially, this Ability makes Regigigas a Legendary version of Slaking.
It will be interesting to see if some sort of nerf is applied to Regigigas to mimic Slow Start. Niantic did try to replicate Slaking's Truant be only allowing it to deal damage with its Charged Attack. The typical 10% nerf for Pokémon exceeding 4,000 CP should be enough of a Slow Start replacement, at least until Abilities are introduced.
As for Regigigas' viability, its stats are much better than the three titans we've been enduring in Raids recently. It should be a good attacker, despite the Normal-typing and inevitable nerf. Finally a Regi with some promise!
Regigigas is a pure Normal-type. This makes it weak to Fighting-type attacks, as well as "immune" to Ghost-type attacks. All other types of attacks will do neutral damage.
LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Regigigas:
Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Regigigas:
Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Regigigas' movepool:
LOOKING AHEAD: Looking beyond Generation 4, Regigigas gains no evolution, exclusive Z-Move, or Mega Evolution.
