On Friday, Niantic dropped a bombshell: Trainer Battles (PVP) are "coming soon." This has easily been the one thing Trainers have been asking for the most. We don't know much about Pokémon GO Trainer Battles yet, but we do know a little bit.
LEAGUES
Trainer Battles will have three leagues: Great League, Ultra League, and Master League. The Great League forbids any Pokémon that exceeds 1,500 CP. The Ultra League forbids any Pokémon that has a CP value above 2,500. The Master League has no limitations. All three Leagues only allow three Pokémon to be brought into battle.

PRESS ACCESS
While the concerns some have raised about the same old tap-and-swipe system are warranted, we do have some reasons to be hopeful about the Trainer Battle feature. Spieletrend, Andrew Goldfarb, and others were allowed to test Trainer Battles recently, and there limited review is optimistic.

Yesterday I was at Niantic and was allowed to try out the new trainer fights exclusively. Unfortunately, I can not say too much yet, but the upcoming PvP battles will definitely require strategy! With Aggron and Blissey in every fight you can not get very far.
Spieletrend also attached the blurred image that we included above. Andrew Goldfarb of IGN said the following:
ALSO, i should add that i got to mess around with Trainer Battles and will be able to share much more (in excruciatingly nerdy detail) on @IGN next week
Thanks for reading, Trainers!
