Trainers, this is going to be a quick update about what we know about the Eggstravaganza. We are still learning, and will undoubtably learn more by tomorrow morning, but what we have learned so far is major, especially as it relates to Shiny Pokémon.
SIX NEW SHINY VARIANTS: Shiny Magby, Shiny Magmar, Shiny Togepi, Shiny Togetic, Shiny Wynaut, and Shiny Wobbuffet are now available. Magby, Togepi, and Wynaut are all hatching from the special 2KM Eggs, and are Egg-exclusive Shiny variants.
Originally, it seemed that the Shiny variants of Wobbuffet, Magmar, and Togetic spawned in the wild, but the screenshots of such were later debunked. Any screenshot of a wild Shiny variant of one of these Pokémon is fake. We're sorry if we got your hopes up on Twitter.
SPECIAL EGGS: Reports indicate that the following Pokémon are those that can hatch out of the special 2KM Eggs. Keep in mind that this list may not be complete at this early hour. Additionally, all Eggs award double the normal amount of Candy than normal.
SALE BOXES: The new sale boxes have gone live. A PNN Poll indicates that they might not be the most popular sale ever, but they are not a bad deal. The Great Box is best for those who cashed in on the last sale, while the Ultra Box is the best deal overall. Stay away from the Special Box.
HAS SHINY LUGIA DISAPPEARED?: Ever since the Eggstravaganza event has started, there have been very (and we cannot stress "very" enough) few reports of Shiny Lugia. We have seen some reports from within the first hour of the event, but none since then.
The best case scenario is that some sort of glitch is preventing Shiny Lugia from appearing after completing a Raid Battle. If Niantic has intentionally removed the possibility to get a Shiny Lugia, our message to them would be: What the heck were you thinking?!
Shiny Lugia had to be bringing them a lot of Raid Pass revenue, and now that revenue will (most likely) flatline without the Shiny variant to keep players motivated. Additionally, many people (including everyone here at PNN) have yet to encounter a Shiny Lugia, despite a large number of Lugia Raid Battles completed. So, Niantic, bring it back (at least until the end of Community Day) or fix the glitch!
Thanks for reading, Trainers. Despite the fact that Shiny Lugia may have disappeared, we'll be publishing our pre-scheduled analysis of Shiny Lugia and future Shiny Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO tomorrow.
UPDATE: Shiny Lugia is once again appearing from Raid Battles.
