Welcome back to Generation Preparation, Trainers. We'll be going over the fiery Infernape in this article. Let's jump in!
CHIMCHAR
attack: 113 |
defense: 86 |
stamina: 88 |
max cp: 815 |
Chimchar is the Fire-type starter of Generation 4. As with Charmander, Cyndaquil, Torchic, and the other starters, we expect you will be able to hatch Chimchar out of 5KM Eggs. It is expected to cost 25 Chimchar Candy to evolve it into Monferno.
MONFERNO
attack: 158 |
defense: 105 |
stamina: 128 |
max cp: 1415 |
We expect it to require 100 Chimchar Candy to evolve Monferno into Infernape, and to follow the starter trend of taking 3KM to earn a Candy when walking it as a Buddy.

PLACE IN THE META: Infernape's place in the meta will be determined based on the moves it gets. While it has respectable stats and good typing, Blaziken's stats are better. If Infernape gets the moves to outperform Blaziken, it could become relevant.
As a Fire-type and a Fighting-type, Infernape has four weaknesses. It's weak to Flying-, Psychic-, Water-, and Ground-type attacks. It resists Grass-, Fire-, Ice-, Steel-, and Dark-type attacks. Infernape greatly resists Bug-type attacks. The type combination makes Rock-type and Fairy-type attacks deal neutral damage.
LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Infernape:
Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Infernape:
Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Infernape's movepool:
LOOKING AHEAD: Looking beyond Generation 4, Infernape gains no evolution, Mega Evolution, or exclusive Z-Move.
