Niantic has just announced a brand-new event that will begin later today! Let's dive into what they announced.
The Battle Showdown will feature Fighting-type Pokémon, who will appear more often. Gym Battles and Raid Battles will award double XP. Raid Battles will award 3,000 Stardust, and at least one Rare Candy. Gym Badges will level-up twice as fast, and their PokéStops will award more Items than usual.
All of these effects will begin on May 1 (today) at 1:00 P.M. PDT. Also at that time, Zapdos will become the Legendary Pokémon coming from Research Breakthroughs. Make sure not to claim your final stamp until after that time, or you'll get another Moltres. One final reminder: the current Legendary Raid Bosses, Latios and Latias, will switch places on week from today (also at 1:00 P.M. PDT).
Thanks for reading, Trainers. Make sure to stay tuned here on PNN and our Twitter page for more news once the event starts, as there is a chance at some of the Fighting-types having their Shiny variants getting released.
UPDATE: The event has since begun. People are reporting signs of Shiny Makuhita and Shiny Meditite out in the wild! Additionally, a sale in the Shop has been secretly added.
