The Pokémon of the Sinnoh region are slowly making their way into Pokémon GO. Today we want to take a look at one that has not yet: Rotom. Rotom is an electric ghost that is able to possess different appliances, which makes us wonder how Niantic will handle it in Pokémon GO? Let's try to answer that question.

MEET  THE  FORMS

Rotom is found in its regular form and able to be taken to a box of appliances to change its form in the main-series. Rotom's alternate forms are variants where its ghostly plasma possesses a washing machine, lawnmower, electric fan, microwave oven, or refrigerator.

Each of those forms has a new secondary type and special move. Wash Rotom swaps the Ghost-type for the Water-type, and is able to learn Hydro Pump. Heat Rotom swaps Ghost for Fire, and learns Overheat. Fan Rotom swaps Ghost for Flying, and learns Air Slash. Mow Rotom swaps Ghost for Grass, and learns Leaf Storm. Frost Rotom swaps Ghost for Ice, and learns Blizzard.

IN  POKEMON  GO

In Pokémon GO, Rotom has all six of its forms coded. They all know their special moves, excluding Mow Rotom. This is because Leaf Storm has not been added to the game as of yet. So, aside from Mow Rotom, Niantic is keeping Rotom's character intact.

With that said, obtaining the different forms will likely be different in this game. Regular Rotom could be the form found out in the wild, but the other forms will probably be handled differently. Rotom's appliance forms seem quite likely to be rotating Raid Bosses or research encounters, just to increase Rotom's excitability like the Alolan forms or Spinda.
