A new event has been announced! The first-ever type-themed event will return later today with a new twist. Here's what Niantic announced about the 2018 Water Festival:
SPECIAL SPAWNS: Water-type Pokémon will spawn at increased rates. In a very rare move, Niantic also announced that Shiny Shellder and Cloyster will be added. This is only the fourth time Niantic has ever explictly mentioned the addition of a Shiny Pokémon family.
AQUATIC RAIDS: New, Water-type Raid Bosses will be featured in this event. This includes a return of the Legendary Pokémon Kyogre. Shiny Kyogre was also confirmed to be added. You can click here to read our Raid Guide for Kyogre.
OTHER BONUSES: Catching Water-types will award you triple the normal amount of Stardust. Water-types will also flood 2KM Eggs. Speaking of Eggs, they will all award double Candy and Stardust.
TIMEFRAME: The event, as we mentioned, will begin later today. More specifically, at 1:00 PM PDT / 4:00 PM EDT. The event lasts to the same time on June 21.
