With the addition of Generation 2, some Generation 1 Pokémon gained evolutions or pre-evolutions. Such Pokémon include Kingdra, Porygon2, Bellossom, Cleffa, Pichu, etc. In future generations, more new forms in currently-existing evolutionary lines are added. Saving Candy now will allow for instantaneous evolutions once new Pokémon launch. In this article, we'll go over each new evolution generation by generation to get you prepared for the future of Pokémon GO.
Important to note that all baby Pokémon (with the exception of Togepi, and, likely, Riolu) cost 25 Candies to evolve. Also, some evolutions will require new Evolution Items, such as the Shiny Stone, Razor Fang, and Dubious Disc. In addition, any Pokémon with an estimated 100 Candy cost for their second-stage to third-stage evolution will have their first-stage to second-stage evolution cost decreased to 25 Candy. It is also unknown if Alolan Forms with their own evolutionary lines, such as Alolan Vulpix / Ninetales, will use the same Candy as regular forms. Finally, all of the Candy costs and Egg distances are not confirmed by Niantic and are PNN's best speculations based on current systems in Pokémon GO.
