ALOLAN GEODUDE, ALOLAN GRAVELER, ALOLAN GOLEM
As Niantic recently announced, the Alolan form of Geodude will be spawning in the wild starting at Pokémon GO Fest 2018 next month. So what will it be like in Pokémon GO? Let's answer that question.

GEODUDE

  • CATEGORY: Rock Pokémon
  • PRONOUNCED: JEE-oh-dude
  • TYPE: Rock / Electric
  • HEIGHT: 1' 04"
  • WEIGHT: 44.1 lbs.
Picture

ATTACK:  132

DEFENSE:  163

STAMINA:  80

MAX  CP:  1193

The Alolan variants of the Geodude family have gained the Electric-typing from burrowing around in the Alolan ground. Magnetic stones have been caught on their bodies, giving them an electric charge. If you step on one, you're in a nasty shock. Alolan Golem are known for shooting Alolan Geodude out of their cannons as ammunition.

GRAVELER

  • CATEGORY: Rock Pokémon
  • PRONOUNCED: GRAV-el-ler
  • TYPE: Rock / Electric
  • HEIGHT: 3' 03"
  • WEIGHT: 242.5 lbs.

ATTACK:  164

DEFENSE:  196

STAMINA:  110

MAX  CP:  1815

The Alolan forms of Geodude, Graveler, and Golem have shed their Ground-typings for the Electric-type. In terms of competitive viability, this means that they loose their double weaknesses to Grass-type and Water-type attacks, but gain one to Ground-type attacks.

GOLEM

  • CATEGORY: Megaton Pokémon
  • PRONOUNCED: GO-lum
  • TYPE: Rock / Electric
  • HEIGHT: 5' 07"
  • WEIGHT: 696.7 lbs.

ATTACK:  211

DEFENSE:  229

STAMINA:  160

MAX  CP:  2916

PLACE IN THE META: Alolan Golem and Kantonian Golem have the same stats, and will likely have similar movepools. This means that Alolan Golem will likely also be a great Rock-type attacker, and likely have some viability as an Electric-type attacker as well (at least until Zekrom rolls around in Generation 5).

Alolan Golem is a Rock-type and an Electric-type. This means that it is weak to Grass-, Fighting-, and Water-type attacks, as well as very weak to Ground-type attacks. It is resistant to Normal-, Fire-, Poison-, Electric-type attacks, and highly-reistant to Flying-type attacks.

LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Alolan Golem:
  • Charge Beam
  • Rock Throw
  • Smack Down
  • Volt Switch

Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Alolan Golem:
  • Rock Slide
  • Stone Edge
  • Thunderbolt
  • Wild Charge

Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Alolan Golem's movepool:
  • Explosion
  • Self-Destruct
