NEWS ROUNDUP

There has been quite a bit of news stemming from the Pokémon GO world recently. Here's what you need to know.

NEW  UPDATE

First up, we have a new update for Pokémon GO. On the surface, this update only brings an aquatic-themed loading screen and some "minor text fixes." But there were some interesting details discovered when dataminers looked underneath the hood.

The recently-discovered new Fast Attack, Charm, has had its stats added. The move still cannot be learned by any Pokémon. However, if and when it's released, it will be the first and only Fairy-type Fast Attack.

Next is a new, confusing codename. A new GO-compatible game has come up in the code, referred to as "Kangaroo." It's still unclear as to what game "Kangaroo" is. All we can really tell is that "Kangaroo" is indeed a game, as Pokémon: Let's Go! is called "Beluga" and Sword and Shield are called "Koala." If we had to take a guess, "Kangaroo" is either a game we do not know of yet or Pokémon HOME.

Next, a variety of different badges for Pokémon GO Fest have shown up. More specifically, they are for the various days of the upcoming GO Fest in Dortmund, Germany.

Our final bit of news from the datamine is some strange Pokémon code. Pikachu, Wurmple, Charizard, Wobbuffet, Blastoise, Raticate, Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur have all been given new "No-Evolve" forms. It is unknown what this means. Additionally, there has also been code referring to "purification," but as to what this refers to is also unknown.

GO  FEST

Moving on, we come to Pokémon GO Fest. The Candy-themed bonuses for GO Fest Chicago are currently active, and are scheduled to end on June 25 at 1:00 PM PDT. The other bonus, Raikou Day, has been given a date: June 29 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in your local timezone.

The redo of the GO Fest from last Saturday occurred yesterday. Attendees were able to experience the GO Fest bonus from wherever they were in the world after Grant Park had to be evacuated during their play time last weekend due to severe thunderstorms in Chicago.

And now our last bit of news about GO Fest, this time concerning the upcoming event in Yokohama. The drawing for tickets is now open. The drawing will close on June 27 at 4:00 PM PDT.

MISCELLANEOUS

Finally, we have a few pieces of miscellaneous news. First, Kyogre has come to Raids as scheduled. It has replaced Cresselia in Legendary Raid Battles, and will remain here until June 27 at 1:00 PM PDT. Groudon is up next.

Next is research. Research will be undergoing a shakeup on July 1 at 1:00 PM PDT. This shakeup will remove Ho-Oh and Lugia from Research Breakthroughs and replace them with Kyogre and Groudon. Latios and Latias will remain in place. Also, a new variant of Spinda will be found in Field Research. This variant will be the first form of Spinda able to be Shiny.

Next up is the PokéStop submission system beta. Submissions remain locked to Level 40 players, but have expanded to the nation of Singapore.

Our final bit of miscellaneous news concerns EX Raids. The next wave will feature Deoxys' Speed Forme instead of its Defense Forme. Like the other Formes, it will likely stick around for a few months before switching to something new.
