Niantic was certainly busy yesterday! Many changes came to both the new Gym system and the Raid beta. Some new discoveries were made in the new content, as well.
the new gym system
After much complaint over PokéCoin distribution, Niantic has made some changes. A defending Pokémon will now earn one Coin every ten minutes instead of every full hour. The daily Coin limit has been decreased to 50 to counterbalance this change.
A new discovery was also made in the Berry feeding system. Usually, feeding a Pokémon a Berry will award 20 Stardust. In a very rare occurrence, some Candy for that species of Pokémon will be awarded. Like a Buddy Pokémon awarding double Candy, this is a very unlikely event. No other awards have been discovered at this time.

the raid battle beta
At the beginning of yesterday, Niantic opened the Raid system up to all players Levels 31, 32, 33, and 34. At that time, Raids would only commence in sponsored Gyms. For those in America, this meant Starbucks, Sprint, and Boost Mobile stores. At the end of the day, Niantic opened the Raid beta to Trainers that are Levels 28, 29, and 30. Three hours later, all Trainers that are Levels 25, 26, and 27 also gained access to the beta. This now means that Trainers (as of now) must be at least Level 25 to participate in Raids. With the third level cap decrease, Gyms that are not sponsors could also initiate a Raid Battle. Soon enough, all Trainers and Gyms will get access to Raids.
