Over the past 24 hours or so we've had some big teases at rewards coming from Professor Willow's Challenge. And, more recently, the Safari Zone event in Dortmund, Germany, has gotten off to a rocky start. We'll catch you up on all of the recent news here:
MAJOR TEASES: Niantic published a video on their YouTube channel yesterday afternoon that teased a fourth event in the Summer Tour and new research that will come soon.
Niantic also sent a special package to the YouTubers they sponsored for the Safari Zone. The package contained some official merchandise, but what we really care about is the letter. The letter was really a secret QR code that linked the content creators to an excitement-causing video that they were unable to show us.
Some adept eyes spotted some reflections in the YouTube videos of Reversal and PkmnMasterHolly that could give us a hint as to what the video contained. Reversal's glasses briefly reflected a frame that bears much resemblance to the Pokédex registration screen. The Pokémon being registered is unclear, although it looks much like Glalie to us. Holly's video showcased a brief frame of her phone screen where the video seem paused on a frame of three silhouettes (each one colored in one of the team's theme colors) next two the Pokémon GO Travel logo and the phrase "Let's Go."
ARTICUNO DAY: If the world meets their research goals for the first leg of the Research Tour, Trainers around the world will get access to Articuno Day on June 7. This day precedes the Squirtle-themed Community Day and will give Trainers the opportunity to Raid against Articuno and possibly encounter its Shiny variant.
Unfortunately, this "day" is only a three-hour window. While it has not been confirmed yet, Trainers are theorizing that this window will be the same timeframe as Community Days normally occur. It is also theorized that the other bonus rewards from the Research Tour will be days for Zapdos and Moltres.
SAFARI ZONE GOES SOUTH: The first day of the Safari Zone in Dortmund has gotten off to a terrible start. Despite the portable cell towers shown being set up, connectivity in Westfalenpark was reported to be nearly nonexistent. And unlike Pokémon GO Fest 2017, the issue was extending into the city of Dortmund. The city was an improvement over the park, but it still had its issues. Luckily, Niantic managed to get it together before the first day of the event ended.
To an extent, some of these issues were to be expected. With so many people descending on the city and an even smaller area within, the connectivity was bound to be worse than normal. We saw this with the Pokémon GO Park event last year at Pikachu Outbreak and the Safari Zones at the Unibail Rodamco centers. But the amount of issues Trainers were experiencing is completely unacceptable.
CELEBI LEAKED: Just before we released this article the dataminer Chrales released his latest findings from Pokémon GO's network traffic. Those findings are a multitude of new research texts, which includes the assets for the Special Research that will release at Pokémon GO Fest 2018.
Professor Willow's dialogue reveals that the Mythical Pokémon Celebi will become available for the first time ever at GO Fest. This dialogue also seems event-specific, which would indicate that the story will need some editing before being released globally.
Thanks for reading, Trainers.
