Darkrai is a Mythical Pokémon from the Sinnoh Region. It is known for sneaking around in the shadows and giving people nightmares. In fact, it showcased those powers in its own movie, The Rise of Darkrai. Darkrai is the counterpart of the Legendary Pokémon Cresselia.

PLACE IN THE META:
Darkrai has the potential to be a great
Pokémon in Pokémon GO (possibly even the best Dark-type attacker) if it's given the right moves. It has more Attack than Tyranitar does, but less Stamina and Defense. This shouldn't be a problem considering Darkrai's lack of a double weakness to Fighting-type attacks and lack of the ability to defend Gyms. Time will only tell if this creepy creature will be viable.

Darkrai is a pure Dark-type. This means it is resistant to Ghost- and Dark-type attacks, "immune" to Psychic-type attacks, and weak to Fighting-, Bug-, and Fairy-type attacks.

LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Darkrai:
  • Feint Attack
  • Shadow Claw
  • Snarl

Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Darkrai:
  • Dark Pulse
  • Foul Play
  • Ice Beam
  • Shadow Ball

Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Darkrai's movepool:
  • Dark Void
  • Dream Eater
  • Nightmare

LOOKING AHEAD: Looking beyond Generation 4, Darkrai gains no evolution, exclusive Z-Move, or Mega Evolution.
Thanks for reading, Trainers!
