Welcome back, Trainers! We'll be taking a look at the fifth generation's Fire-type starters this time: Tepig, Pignite, and Emboar.

PLACE IN THE META: Statistically speaking, Emboar looks pretty good. It has good Attack and Stamina stats, leading to a respectable maximum CP just below 3,000. Emboar probably will still be bested by Blaziken, and will not reach its full potential until the inevitable Community Day, but it has potential in the Raiding and Trainer Battle fields.
But one aspect about Emboar is concerning: It's possible movepool. Emboar can't learn Fire Spin or Counter, which will hurt it in the Fire-type, Fighting-type, or general DPS departments.
LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Emboar:

Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Emboar's movepool:
