GEN 5 PREVIEW

OSHAWOTT, DEWOTT, SAMUROTT
We've already taken a look at what Serperior and Emboar may be like in Pokémon GO. Now it's time to take a look at the final family in the Unova starter trio: Oshawott, Dewott, and Samurott. Let's dive into it!

PLACE IN THE META: Samurott is shaping up to be a pretty good Water-type Pokémon. It's Attack stat than Swampert, Blastoise, and Feraligatr's, meaning with the right Water-type Fast Attack in concert with Hydro Cannon after Oshawott's inevitable Community Day, it could end up being a top-tier Water-type attacker in both Gyms/Raids and Trainer Battles.

LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Samurott:
  • Water Gun
  • Waterfall

Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Samurott:
  • Hydro Cannon (Community Day)
  • Hydro Pump
  • Ice Beam
  • Surf

Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Samurott's movepool:
  • Liquidation
  • Razor Shell
  • Smart Strike
  • Water Pledge

LOOKING AHEAD: Looking beyond Generation 5, Samurott gains no evolution, exclusive Z-Move, or Mega Evolution that is known of at this time.
Thanks for reading, Trainers!
