Magmortar is the evolved form of Magmar. In the main-series games, Magmar needs a Magmarizer to evolve into Magmortar. It's unknown if Niantic will add this item into Pokémon GO or not.

PLACE IN THE META:
With the right moves, Magmortar will definitely be a fiery force in the metagame. It has greater Attack than Entei, with its overall stats quite comparable to Moltres. This makes Magmortar a bit of a glass cannon, but it should be able to deal quite a large amount of damage before its flames are put out. And, unlike Moltres, Magmortar does not have a double-weakness to Rock-type attacks o worry about.

Magmortar is a pure Fire-type. This means it is resistant to Grass-, Fire-, Bug-, Ice-, Fairy-, and Steel-type attacks, as well as weak to Ground-, Water-, and Rock-type attacks.

LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Magmortar:
  • Ember
  • Fire Spin

Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Magmortar:
  • Fire Blast
  • Fire Punch
  • Flamethrower
  • Overheat
  • Psychic
  • Rock Tomb

Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Magmortar's movepool:
  • Lava Plume

LOOKING AHEAD: Looking beyond Generation 4, Magmortar gains no evolution, exclusive Z-Move, or Mega Evolution.
Thanks for reading, Trainers!
