Cresselia is a Legendary Pokémon, and the counterpart to the Mythical Pokémon Darkrai. It is known for bringing pleasant dreams and is said to represent the moon's crescent phase.
PLACE IN THE META: Cresselia's future in Pokémon GO is not looking promising. Similarly to the Suicune and three Legendary Golems, Cresselia is a defensively-focused Pokémon with low Attack. This means its not going to impact the current metagame or be good for the Raiding scene.
Now, unlike Suicune and the Golems, we see a glimmer of promise in Cresselia. Firstly, if Legendaries are ever allowed into Gyms, Cresselia will be a pretty good defender. And if the fabled, highly-requested PVP and battle system rework happen, Cresselia could become a good staller and unbreakable wall like it is in the main-series games. Finally, if its exclusive move Lunar Dance is added, Cresselia could provide an unique in-battle healing mechanic.
Cresselia is a pure Psychic-type. This makes it weak to Dark-, Bug-, and Ghost-type attacks, as well as resistant to Psychic-, and Fighting-type attacks.
LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Cresselia:
Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Cresselia:
Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Cresselia's movepool:
LOOKING AHEAD: Looking beyond Generation 4, Cresselia gains no evolution, exclusive Z-Move, or Mega Evolution.
