Despite the promised announcement coming hours later than expected, Niantic finally followed through on their promised Ultra Bonus announcement. And this event is shaping up to be one of (if not the) best Pokémon GO events so far. Let's break it all down.
PHASE 1
Let's start with Phase 1 of the event: The Johto Journey. This phase starts on September 2 at 1:00 PM PDT and lasts until September 9 at the same time. Here are the effects:
- Incubator effectiveness will be doubled.
- Johto Pokémon will appear in Raids, including the return of Raikou, Entei, and Suicune.
- Trainers will be able to hatch the U, L, T, R, and A forms of Unown from 10KM Eggs if you are "extraordinarily lucky."
- The Shiny variants of Sentret and Gligar will be released.
PHASE 2
Time to move onto Phase 2. This phase starts on September 9 and lasts until September 16. Here are the effects:
NOTE: There was no word about the addition of Mime Jr., the baby form of Mr. Mime, being added to Pokémon GO during this event.
- Incubator effectiveness will be doubled.
- All four forms of Deoxys will appear in normal Raids.
- Pokémon strong against Deoxys will appear in the lower tiers of Raids.
- The regional Pokémon from Generation 1--Farfetch'd, Mr. Mime, Tauros, and Kangaskhan--will be hatching from Eggs. They will be able to be Shiny for the first time.

PHASE 3
Finally, we come to Phase 3. This phase starts on September 16 and lasts until September 23. Here are the effects:
NOTE: It is unclear if Psystrike will be a permanent addition to Mewtwo's movepool or just a temporary one. It is also unclear what Unova Pokémon will be released aside from the Klink, Lillipup, and Patrat families. The Ultra Bonus trailer does show the Generation 5 starters: Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott. It's safe to assume they (and maybe some other common Unova Pokémon) will be released as well.

- The regional Pokémon from Generation 1--Farfetch'd, Mr. Mime, Tauros, and Kangaskhan--will continue to be hatching from Eggs.
- Mewtwo is returning to Raids with its signature move Psystrike! Additionally, it will be able to be Shiny for the first time!
- Pokémon strong against Mewtwo will appear in lower-tier Raids.
- Pokémon originally discovered in the Unova region will start to appear in Pokémon GO! The Klink, Lillipup, and Patrat families have been confirmed so far, with all three being able to be Shiny.

JIRACHI AWAKENS!
And the hype does not stope there! Special Research for the Mythical Pokémon Jirachi is available right now in Pokémon GO. We'll be cataloging all tasks and rewards for this set of tasks very soon as we continue to overhaul our Special Research database.
NOTE: Those who already started a Special Research story for Jirachi at one of the Pokémon GO Fests from this year will earn Jirachi Candy instead of another Jirachi encounter.

SAFARI ZONE
The hype doesn't even stop there! Following the recent announcement of a Safari Zone in Montreal (tickets for which are sold out), another Safari Zone has been announced! It will take place from October 3 to October 6 in New Taipei City. This will highlight Grass-, Water-, and Bug-type Pokémon, including the regional Pokémon Heracross.
That's all for now! We'll continue to keep you posted, so stay tuned to the site and our Twitter for future updates. Thanks for reading, Trainers!
