A new "bug fixes" update has rolled out overnight, but the new coding has churned up some incredible excitement! We'll break down all of the dataminers' (done by The Silph Road and GO Hub) findings here.
1. the bug fixes
- A cool-down has been added for Raid notifications. This is probably so multiple notifications do not overwhelm you.
- The error system has been reworked.
- Potential memory fixes, which may or may not come of anything.

2. the super incubator
The Super Incubator that was hinted at a short time ago in the network traffic now has graphical assets. This Incubator will hatch Eggs faster than a regular or Infinite Incubator. Its graphic, along with the new graphics for the other Incubators, are shown below.
3. An update to shiny pokemon
The sparkling effect that Shinies have has been changed. There is another piece of coding that MIGHT mean Shinies will soon be able to be seen from the map view. We'll have to see, but it seems that Shiny Pokémon may soon be fully-available. (Finally!)
4. you can now search for a move
The search bar now has more functionality! You can now search for a fast or charged move by placing an "@" in front of the move's name. Examples: @Thunderbolt, @Quick Attack, @Moonblast, @Hidden Power, @Earthquake, @Hydro Pump, @Snarl, @Transform, @Rock Throw, etc.
5. The mystery of the Metamon id
The Pokémon Ditto, as we all know, has a unique spawn mechanic: being disguised as common Pokémon (Pidgey, Rattata, Sentret, Zubat, Hoothoot, Magikarp, & Yanma). A label featuring Ditto's Japanese name, Metamon, called METAMON_ID has been added. This could indicate one of two things: one, new Ditto disguises (possibly Zigzagoon, Wurmple, Taillow, etc.) will be added with Generation 3. Two, other Pokémon may be disguised. This last option doesn't make much sense for any Gen 3 Pokémon, but it could be used for Zorua and Zoroark from Gen 5.
6. new camera references
It's unclear exactly what is coming, but many new references to the AR feature and camera have been added. This could be the start of the new AR Playground feature Niantic has promised to come with Apple's new ARKit, but we'll have to see.
7. exclusive raids
The existing Raid code has been updated so it can support Exclusive Raids. There is probably some more work that's needed, so keep an eye out. Glitches that we all commonly experience in Raids (network issues, timers, and lobby counters) have also been touched / updated.
8. drumroll please... Generation 3!
The Hoenn region has made an appearance in the code! All 135 new species and 73 new Candy families have been added. Treecko, Shedinja, Groudon, Jirachi, Whismur, Slaking, and everything in-between now has their preliminary code.
Be aware that none of these Pokémon will begin to spawn or appear in Raid Battles just yet. They still need their cries (audio files). If new moves are to be added with Gen 3, coding for those is still needed.
Gen 3 has no set release date yet, but it should come before October. Niantic promised after Gen 2's launch that a quarterly update schedule will be used for this year. The firs quarter was Gen 2, the second was Raids, and we are still waiting on the third. The third quarter includes July, August, and September, so Niantic needs to get the new update out soon!
