Phione is a Mythical Pokémon. Even though it cannot evolve into one, it is essentially the baby form of Manaphy (another Mythical Pokémon of this generation). But that's a topic for another day...

PLACE IN THE META:
Even though it is a Mythical Pokémon, Phione won't be able to keep up with some of the other Water-types. Like we said, it is the baby of Mythical Pokémon. Phione has the worse stats out of all Mythicals, and they won't allow it to keep up with Kyogre, Manaphy, Gyarados, Vaporeon, etc. in Raids. But, depending on Phione's movepool, might be able to hold its own as a fun-to-use Gym battler.

Phione is a Water-type. This makes it weak to Grass- and Electric-type attacks, as well as resistant to Water-, Ice-, Fire-, and Steel-type attacks.

LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Phione:
  • Bubble
  • Waterfall

Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Phione:
  • Bubble Beam
  • Dazzling Gleam
  • Ice Beam
  • Surf
  • Water Pulse

Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Phione's movepool:
  • Dive
  • Whirlpool

LOOKING AHEAD: Looking beyond Generation 4, Phione gains no evolution, exclusive Z-Move, or Mega Evolution.
Thanks for reading, Trainers!
