PLACE IN THE META: Sawsbuck is definitely a fascinating Pokémon with all of its seasonal variants, and will be interesting to see how these are implemented into GO. With that being said, it doesn't have much battle prowess. Essentially, Sawsbuck is slightly-better version of Stantler with the added utility of Grass-type S.T.A.B.

Sawsbuck most certainly will not be a useful Pokémon to use when taking on Gym Defenders and Raid Bosses. With the Normal-type not being super-effective against anything and Grass-types dominated by starters with Frenzy Plant and glass cannons like Roserade and Breloom with Grass Knot. But, depending on its movepool, it could find some usage in Trainer Battles.

LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Sawsbuck:
  • Charm
  • Tackle

Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Sawsbuck:
  • Grass Knot
  • Last Resort
  • Megahorn
  • Wild Charge

Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Sawsbuck's movepool:
  • Bounce
  • Double-Edge
  • Horn Leech

LOOKING AHEAD: Looking beyond Generation 5, Sawsbuck gains no evolution, exclusive Z-Move, or Mega Evolution that is known of at this time.
Thanks for reading, Trainers! Emolga is up next.
