PLACE IN THE META: Braviary seems very comparable to Staraptor. While its Attack stat is a few points lower, its Defense and Stamina stats are significantly better. Braviary's stats are also similar to Honchkrow's. If you use either of those Pokémon as Flying-type attackers currently, then you should be able to find a new addition to your roster with Braviary.

But Braviary won't come unchallenged. For one, Moltres can now learn Wing Attack, meaning Moltres with the exclusive move Sky Attack from last summer can now have a full Flying moveset. Additionally, Archeops is projected to rocket straight to the top of Flying-type attacking tier lists. Not to mention Flying-types don't have much use outside of countering Virizion, so Braviary will have to soar high to compete in GO.

LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Braviary:
  • Steel Wing
  • Wing Attack

Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Braviary:
  • Brave Bird
  • Heat Wave
  • Rock Slide
  • Sky Attack

Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Braviary's movepool:
  • Fly
  • Sky Drop
  • Superpower

LOOKING AHEAD: Looking beyond Generation 5, Braviary gains no evolution, exclusive Z-Move, or Mega Evolution that is known of at this time.
Thanks for reading, Trainers! The Mandibuzz line is up next.
