NEW SWORD & SHIELD TRAILER SHOWN OFF IN NINTENDO DIRECT

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield featured in today's Nintendo Direct. New information was showcased, and we've recapped it below.

NEW  POKEMON

Let's start with one of the highlights of the trailer: the new Pokémon.

POLTEAGEIST: Polteageist is made of black tea and inhabits a broken teapot. This Pokémon is a pure Ghost-type with the Weak Armor Ability.

CRAMORANT: Cramorant is a bird Pokémon that bears a disturbing resemblance to Kevin from Disney/Pixar's Up movie. This Flying- and Water-type Pokémon was previously leaked. Its Gulp Missile Ability allows it to pick up an unnamed fish Pokémon in its mouth after it uses Surf or Dive, which is launched at the opposing Pokémon if it attacks Cramorant.

ALCREMIE: Some more details were unveiled about Alcremie. It has numerous different variants based on the flavors of its cream. The variants will have differing colorations and fruit, somewhat like the different patterns on Vivillon's wings.

THE  GALAR  DEX

Between the Direct, English trailer, and Japanese trailer, we've seen many new additions to the Galar Pokédex. Here's the latest batch of Pokémon that have survived the National Dex cut:

CUSTOMIZATION

Avatar customization is returning from previous games. Trailers showcased different clothing items, hairstyles, etc.

CAMP  &  CURRY

Pokémon Camp is how you'll play with your Pokémon in these games. You can set up camp in most places around Galar. One of the actions you can do while there is making Curry to eat with your Pokémon. You can visit other Trainer's Camps in the Wild Area if you have a Switch Online Membership.

LEAGUE  CARDS

League Cards are the games' version of athlete trading cards. You can collect Cards from characters, such as Hop and Leon, during the story. You can customize your own Card in the Rotomi. League Cards will display as your profile pictures in Trainer Battles.

SURPRISE  TRADES

Wonder Trades are returning in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, rebranded as Surprise Trades. To Surprise Trade, you select a Pokémon you wish to trade and the game will search the Internet for a partner.
