In a recent interview with Bloomberg, the CEO of the Pokémon Company (TPC) revealed some interesting information about Pokémon GO and the future of Pokémon on the Nintendo Switch console. Tsunekazu Ishihara said that the game is only 10% completed. There are still many features that TPC and Niantic want to add (trading and player-versus-player battles were explicitly mentioned). And, thinking about it, Ishihara is right. Below is everything Niantic needs to add eventually.
- Unreleased Pokémon
- Ho-Oh
- Mew
- Celebi
- Smeargle
- Delibird
- Full Shiny Pokédex
- Trading
- Breeding
- Player-Versus-Player Battles
- Improved Battle System / Updates to Raids
- Abilities
- Status Effects (Sleep, Paralysis, Burn, etc.)
- Weather & Terrain
- Generation 3 Pokémon
- Generation 4 Pokémon
- Generation 5 Pokémon
- Generation 6 Pokémon & Mega Evolutions
- Generation 7 Pokémon, Alolan Forms, & Z-Moves
- New Items
- Master Ball and other special PokéBalls
- Super Incubator
- Golden Pinap Berry, Bluk Berry, Wepar Berry, Golden Nanab Berry
- AR Playground
- Bug Fixes
That is a rather hefty list! It really does put into perspective how many aspects from the main series games, found-in-the-code features, future additions to the Pokémon franchise, and other things Niantic will add that Pokémon GO still has in its future. Billions of dollars have been made on this game, and it doesn't seem like the game will become irrelevant anytime soon.
The future of Pokémon GO is looking bright, Trainers!
