GEN 4 PREVIEW

BIDOOF, BIBAREL
Welcome back, Trainers! In this installment of Generation Preparation, we'll be taking a look at the Rattata- and Raticate-equivalents of this generation: Bidoof and Bibarel.

BIDOOF

  • CATEGORY: Plump Mouse Pokémon
  • PRONOUNCED: BEE-doof
  • TYPE: Normal
  • HEIGHT: 1' 08"
  • WEIGHT: 44.1 lbs.

In the unlikely event it is found in Eggs, we expect Bidoof to be found in 2KM Eggs. Most likely it will require 1KM to find a Candy as a Buddy.

BIBAREL

  • PRONOUNCED: bee-BER-rel
  • TYPE: Normal / Water

PLACE IN THE META: Bibarel is the Raticate-equivalent of this generation. It may have been useful in the old training system, but that system is gone. This leaves Bibarel with no potential in Pokémon GO.

Bibarel is a Normal- and Water-type. This makes it weak to Grass-, Fighting-, and Electric-type attacks; "immune" to Ghost-types; as well as resistant to Ice-, Steel-, Water-, and Fire-type attacks.

LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Bibarel:
  • Take Down
  • Water Gun

Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Bibarel:
  • Hyper Beam
  • Ice Beam
  • Scald
  • Thunderbolt

Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Bibarel's movepool:
  • Superpower

LOOKING AHEAD: Looking beyond Generation 4, Bibarel gains no evolution, exclusive Z-Move, or Mega Evolution.
