GEN 4 PREVIEW

CHERUBI, CHERRIM
Welcome back, Trainers! We'll be taking a look at what Cherubi and Cherrim will be like in Pokémon GO this time. Let's begin!

CHERUBI

  • CATEGORY: Cherry Pokémon
  • PRONOUNCED: chuh-ROO-bee
  • TYPE: Grass
  • HEIGHT: 1' 04"
  • WEIGHT: 7.3 lbs.
Picture

ATTACK:  108

DEFENSE:  96

STAMINA:  90

MAX  CP:  829

Cherubi is expected to be very common in Grass-type biomes. We don't expect to find Cherubi in Eggs, but we do expect it and Cherrim to take 3KM to find a Candy while being walked as a Buddy.
SUGGESTED: What Will Froslass Be Like in Pokémon GO? - Generation Preparation

CHERRIM

  • CATEGORY: Blossom Pokémon
  • PRONOUNCED: chuh-RIM
  • TYPE: Grass
  • HEIGHT: 1' 08"
  • WEIGHT: 20.5 lbs.

ATTACK:  170

DEFENSE:  157

STAMINA:  140

MAX  CP:  1886

Cherrim has two different forms. The Overcast Form (pictured above) is the default, and is the form that appears in all weather conditions except Sunny weather. The blossoming Sunshine Form comes out during times of sunlight. We expect Niantic to take the easy way out and make Cherrim form-locked as well as only have the Sunshine Form spawn during Sunny weather.

PLACE IN THE META:
Cherrim is not going to be useful in Pokémon GO. Cherrim is just one of those common Grass-types with poor stats that is destined to always sit in the shadow of Pokémon like Tangrowth, (Alolan) Exeggutor, Venusaur, Sceptile, etc.

Cherrim is a Grass-type. This makes it weak to Bug-, Poison-, Flying-, Fire-, and Ice-type attacks, as well as resistant to Ground-, Water-, Grass-, and Electric-type attacks.

LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Cherrim:
  • Tackle
  • Take Down

Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Cherrim:
  • Dazzling Gleam
  • Energy Ball
  • Petal Blizzard
  • Solar Beam

Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Cherrim's movepool:
  • Magical Leaf

LOOKING AHEAD: Looking beyond Generation 4, Cherrim gains no evolution, Mega Evolution, or exclusive Z-Move.
Thanks for reading, Trainers!
