PLACE IN THE META: Meloetta is has one of the highest maximum CP values out of any Pokémon. It has a very respectable Attack stat with very balanced Defense and Stamina. In its Aria Forme, it is a Normal- and Psychic-type, which means it is, essentially, a major upgrade on Girafarig that is far more suited for Raids and Gyms. While Meloetta won't be beating out Mewtwo, it will be a viable Psychic-type.

PLACE IN THE META: When Meloetta changes from its Aria Forme to its Pirouette Forme, it substitutes the Psychic-type for the Fighting-type and some points in Defense for an increase in Attack. Statistically, Pirouette Meloetta is really good Pokémon. But it cannot learn either Counter or Dynamic Punch, meaning this form of Meloetta won't be too useful as a Fighting-type.
As for how Niantic will handle Meloetta's form change, that remains unclear. In the main-series games, Meloetta's form change happens in battle whenever it uses its signature move Relic Song. It will be interesting to see if and how Niantic implements this into GO for Meloetta or just handles it like they did Giratina.
