A few hours ahead of its release as a part of the third phase of 2019's Ultra Bonus, Niantic has unveiled more details about Generation 5 in Pokémon GO. Their post was surprisingly detailed, and we'll break it all down it here.
NEW POKÉMON: Generation 5's first wave is rather large. Here is every Pokémon confirmed to be releasing later today, plus their evolved forms:
That's quite a long list for a first wave, and includes many strong Pokémon. The trailer that was released showed off some more Pokémon, but do note that none of them have been confirmed to be part of today's batch. In fact, given the size of the first wave and the fact that not all of the following Pokémon have sprites yet, we'd presume that most of (if not all of) these will be held back for future waves. Regardless, here is the list:
REGION-EXCLSUIVES: We have two new sets of region-exclusive Pokémon. Heatmor will only be able to be found in the Western Hemisphere, and Durant will only be able to be found in the Eastern Hemisphere.
Additionally, the trio of elemental monkeys will be region-locked. Pansage will only be found in the Asia-Pacific region; Pansear in the Middle East, Africa, India, and Europe; and Panpour in Greenland, North America, and South America.
EGGS: Unova Pokémon will be added to the Eggpool as well. The following Pokémon will be added to 2KM Eggs:
The following Pokémon will be added to 5KM Eggs:
The following Pokémon will be added to 10KM Eggs:
RAIDS: Lillipup, Patrat, and Klink will be able to be battled in Raids. All three will have their Shiny variants available upon launch. Klink will only be able to be found in Eggs and Raids.
UNOVA STONE: A new evolution item, the Unova Stone, is being added to the game. Similarly to the Sinnoh Stone, it is a conglomeration of the evolution items needed to evolve Pokémon in the main-series. As it stands in the code currently, the following Pokémon need a Unova Stone to evolve:
The Unova Stone will be obtained via Research Breakthroughs. Additionally, Petilil and Cottonee will need a Sun Stone to evolve into Lilligant and Whimsicott, respectively.
