Generation 4's first wave is now live in Pokémon GO! Here's everything you need to know.
NEW POKEMON
The first wave of Generation 4 brings the following new species of Pokémon:
All of these Pokémon spawn in the wild, excluding the fully-evolved starters, the Lucario family, and the Luxray family. Riolu, being a baby Pokémon, is exclusive to Eggs. Shinx is exclusive to Eggs and Raids, although the evolved Luxio was hatching at first for some reason. Shinx can be Shiny.

REGION-EXCLUSIVES
Based on what the community has reported, it seems we have three new region-exclusive Pokémon. They are Carnivine, Chatot, and Pachirisu. Carnivine has only been found in the southeastern United States, Chatot in the Southern Hemisphere, and Pachirisu in the far Northern Hemisphere (such as Alaska, Canada, and Russia).
RAIDS & EGGS
Eggs and Raids have been shaken up. Eggs have added the new Sinnoh species, and we've updated our Egg Chart accordingly. Raids have also been changed to add the new species and Pokémon that gain new evolutions this generation. We've also updated our Raid Boss Chart to reflect these changes.
GAME BALANCE
The game balance updates Niantic promised seem to partially be in effect. The increased diversity in spawns is definitely active, and the CP changes are active for Sinnoh Pokémon only. The changes will likely be reactivated for Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn Pokémon once Niantic finds a way to fix the bug that makes HP be reduced after the changes.
MORE TO COME
Thanks to the in-game announcement we know that this generation will be released in waves, much like how Generation 3 was. The trailer that was released yesterday further hinted at Giratina at the end, which adds more backing to the popular theory that it will be the next Legendary Raid Boss. Finally, the in-game announcement ends with this:
You can look forward to discovering even more Pokémon over the next few weeks appearing in the wild, hatching from Eggs, and battling in Raids. Stay tuned to our official channels for updates about new Pokémon, new features, and expansions to existing features like Pokémon storage and more!
