HALLOWEEN EVENT

The long-awaited Halloween event is now live in Pokémon GO! Here's everything you need to know:

TRICKS  &  TREATS

Pokémon GO's annual event for Halloween has begun, bringing some of its staples. Ghost-type and Dark-type Pokémon are spawning in increased rates, and catch Candy has been doubled. The witch-hat Pikachu from last year has returned, with the possibility of being Shiny this time around. Pichu with a witch's hat can also be hatched.

The Halloween event ends at 1:00 PM PDT on November 1, 2018. We also have some new avatar clothing available in the Style Shop.

GIRATINA  &  GLITCHES

The event has brought a new Legendary Raid Boss: Giratina in its Altered Forme. Giratina went live on October 23 at 1:00 PM PDT. It will remain the Raid Boss until November 20 at 1:00 PM PST. Giratina also has brought some other Raid Bosses to keep in company in the lower Raid tiers.

There was a glitch at first with Giratina's stats. It was using the incorrect stats, leading to confusion when catching the Raid Boss after the Battle. The glitch has since been repaired. Powering up a Giratina with incorrect stats will fix the issue, and they will likely be fixed
automatically in a few days.

Speaking of glitches, there was also a glitch involving our previous Legendary Raid Boss: Mewtwo. Once the Raids switched over to Giratina, it could temporarily learn the legacy Shadow Ball and Hyper Beam again. This has since been fixed, so don't waste any of your Charged TMs.

NEW  POKEMON

Giratina isn't the only new Pokémon. Five more Pokémon from the Sinnoh region have been added: Drifloon, Drifblim, Stunky, Skuntank, and Spiritomb. Stunky and Drifloon can be found in the wild, and Spiritomb via some new Special Research. Drifloon can be found in its Shiny variant.

The Special Research to award Spiritomb was classified as limited-time-only in the English announcement. But the Japanese announcement tells us, via Serebii's Joe Merrick, needs to be begun during the time of the event; It does not have to be completed.
