new legendary theory

Ho-Oh has now flown away, Trainers. We have now been left without a Legendary Raid Boss for the first time since GO Fest. Niantic has not announced a new one yet, leaving us with only Mewtwo in EX Raids. We'll be sharing Redditor's malcomjudd's theory about new Raid Bosses, as we feel it's very realistic.

THEMED GROUPS: Niantic revealed to TechCrunch earlier this month that the remaining portion of Generation 3 will be released in type-themed groups. malcomjudd pointed out in his post that none of the released Pokémon are no, excluding the starters and Beautifly, Ice, Rock, Dragon, Ground, Fire, Water, and Flying-types released.

Those types are interesting, because they correspond to the types of the three main Legendary Pokémon from Generation 3. Groudon would be associated with Fire-types, Ground-types, and maybe Rock-types. Kyogre would be associated with Water-types, and maybe Ice-types. Finally, Rayquaza would be associated with Dragon-types and Flying-types.

So, if we say that Rock-types and Ice-types are outliers, the theory does make sense. Ice-types could be released in the upcoming days for the holiday event, along with Delibird. Rock-types could be released for another take on Adventure Week.

TIMELINE: So when will we see each Legendary? That's all up to Niantic, but here's our timeline.
  - REGICE: Holidays / Winter
  - REGISTEEL: Sometime after Regice (January / February)
  - REGIROCK: During "Adventure Week 2"
  - GROUDON: EX Raids during the Legendary Titans' rotation
  - KYOGRE: EX Raids, introduced in a "Water Festival 2"
  - RAYQUAZA: EX Raids sometime in spring
  - LATIOS / LATIAS: Sometime around Rayquaza, shortly before Generation 4
