After the leaks from the latest update yesterday, we now have confirmation of the AR+ system! The feature uses Apple's ARKit technology to encounter wild Pokémon in a whole-new way!
Pokémon will be sized to scale, and fixed to one spot. By walking up to a Pokémon, you'll be able to get Great and Excellent throws easier. Getting close to a Pokémon will also give an Excellent Handler bonus (which increases XP and Stardust rewards).
Be careful when walking up to a Pokémon, as they could flee! An awareness meter on the bottom of the screen will let you know how nervous the Pokémon is becoming. If the bar fills, the Pokémon will flee. But, if it does, you can tap on the tall grass nearby to try to flush it back out.
OUR THOUGHTS: This feature seems amazing! It really advances the AR part of Pokémon GO, and gives us a reason to actually turn AR mode on once in a while. That said, only Trainers using iOS 11 and nothing older than an iPhone 6s will be able to use the mode (at least for now).
Thanks for reading, Trainers! Stay tuned on PNN.com and @PNN_APTV on Twitter for more developments on AR+ and the leaked Water and Ice-types from Generation 3. Official screenshots are shown below.
