1. Battle showdown
Only a day after the end of the Earth Day event, Niantic have started another one. The Battle Showdown event increases the spawn-rates of Fighting-type Pokémon, and gives extra bonuses at Gyms and Raids. The event also features a surprise sale of three boxes and Super Incubators.
Additionally, Niantic have also released the Shiny variants of Makuhita, Hariyama, Meditite, and Medicham. This brings the total amount of available Shiny Pokémon up to 45.

2. Newsletter leak
This week, in the May 2018 version of their email newsletter, Niantic revealed that Adventure Week will be returning. (Adventure Week was a popular, Rock-type event that took place in 2017). The newsletter says the event will return this month, although no other details were given beyond that.

3. Goodbye Moltres, Hello zapdos
As Niantic announced, research has undergone a change for the month of May. Zapdos will now be the encounter from a Research Breakthrough, and the Field Research tasks now focus around Electric- and Flying-type Pokémon.

4. upcoming switch
This Legendary Pokémon Latios and Latias will switch places soon. On Tuesday, May 15, at 1:00 PM PDT, Latios will move to Eurasia and the Asia-Pacific region and Latias will move to Africa and the Americas. Once they migrate, they will remain in those positions until June 5.

New figures were added to Pokémon Duel this week. They are the following:
