1. CELEBI GOING GLOBAL
The Celebi Special Research is finally going global tomorrow! Trainers around the world will finally have the opportunity to do the Celebi quest (which should be different from GO Fest's version) if they've reached the fourth stage of the Mew quest. Speaking of the GO Fest quest, Trainers who have the GO Fest quest will get extra Celebi Candy as the reward instead of the opportunity to catch a second Celebi.
The introduction of this new Special Research will come with some new avatar apparel and increased spawns of Johto Pokémon.

3. NEW RAID BOSSES
Registeel has left Raid Battles, much to the delight of active Raiders. Regirock has taken over until September 20, 2018. Many new, lower-tier Raid Bosses have accompanied it.
Many fans are pointing out that many of these Raid Bosses (and some of those who came with Registeel) are those with evolutions in Generation 4. This has been interpreted as Niantic's way of preparing us for the release of Sinnoh Pokémon.

4. MORE MEGA EVOLUTIONS
On a Japanese television show and a trailer posted to the official Pokémon YouTube channel, it was revealed that Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Gyarados will appear in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee!. This comes after last week's development that Mega Venusaur, Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and Mega Blastoise will also appear.

5. Code LEAKs & UPDATES
A new update was released this week, which brought many new quality-of-life improvements and hints at future features in the code. You can read our Update Report by clicking here.
There was also some leaks coming out of the network traffic, courtesy of Chrales. The first leak was the name of the Sinnoh badge, the Pokédex medal for the fourth generation. The second was the addition of almost every Shiny Pokémon's sprite and model that had not already been added.
This set off some wild speculation in the community about a mass-release of Shiny Pokémon as the Ultra Bonus. While this is possible, we do want to try to help keep your expectations in check. Please recall earlier in this year when a similar server update happened that added assets for unreleased Shiny Pokémon, which turned out to be Niantic prepping for future releases. We believe this is what is happening again.
