The Celebi quest and Johto Festival event went live early this week. The Johto Festival brings special Field Research and increased Johto spawns. The Shiny variants of Sunkern, Natu, and Pineco have been introduced. And, as a final effect, Ho-Oh has returned for the weekend along with another opportunity to get its Shiny variant. On September 1 at 1:00 PM PDT, Raikou will leave Research Breakthroughs and be replaced by Entei. Remember to not claim your Research Breakthrough until after 1:00 PM PDT if you want to get Entei instead of Raikou. SOURCE: Niantic
3. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
This weekend is the Pokémon World Championships, an event for the main-series games, trading card game, and Pokkén Tournament DX. The event is taking place in Nashville, TN, USA, and has its closing ceremony tonight at 4:00 PM CT.

4. TWO NEW SERIES!
Trainers, we are excited to announce we will soon be starting two new series! These series will run alongside our regular news articles and the ongoing Generation Preparation series.
HOW WILL NIANTIC HANDLE: How Will Niantic Handle... (working title) will be our way of speculating on special Pokémon. There are a lot of Pokémon with special mechanics that Niantic will have to incorporate in Pokémon GO, and we'll share our thoughts on how this may be done.
AN HONEST REVIEW: An Honest Review will be our way of directly conveying our thoughts on a topic to you in an OP-ed format. We'll be covering topics such as GO Fest 2018, the game's trading system, and more.

Charizard's black-and-red Shiny variant is one of the most popular Shiny Pokémon. But it didn't always look like that! It was a different color in the Generation 2 games. What was that color combination: teal and white, brown and magenta, navy and pink, or purple and green?
