2. pokemon day
This week, the Pokémon franchise celebrated its twenty-second anniversary. The Pokémon Company celebrated in multiple ways across multiple fronts.
IN POKÉMON GO: In Pokémon GO, party-hat Pikachu returned with triple Stardust. This hatted Pikachu was the first of the four variants to be able to be Shiny.
TECHNOLOGY: Pokémon has also come to some popular technology. Pikachu Talk is now available for Amazon Echo and Google Home, which allows the speaker's AI to talk like Pikachu. Additionally, a special Bulbasaur filter is now available on SnapChat.
ON POKÉMON TV: The latest Pokémon movie, I Choose You!, is now available to watch on Pokémon TV for free! Click here to watch.
ON TWITTER: The Pokémon Company has been counting down to Pokémon Day over the past week or so. Their nostalgic tweets led many to believe that Pokémon Day would be the announcement of the next core Pokémon game for the Nintendo Switch.
The Pokémon Direct never came, and many were left disappointed. This comes in the wake of proven-fake "leaks" of the Generation 8 starters from last week. These "leaks" were incredibly convincing, and fooled many people. Our message to Pokémon fans is to take it easy. The game will be announced when it's announced, and released when it's released. Don't hype yourself up until we see an official announcement.

4. an update on Pokemon GO Events
GIOVANNI'S NIDOKING: The special Nidoking Raid Bosses have started to hatch in Japan. Unfortunately, there are no reports of special moves, Shiny variants, or anything special. The increased power level was only achieved by bumping Nidoking's Boss CP up to a Tier 5 level.
LEGENDARY WEEK: The challenge window for the Legendary Week event is almost over. As of Niantic's latest update, Team Rayquaza is winning by a narrow margin. If you are on Team Groudon or Team Kyogre, you have one more day to change that.
As a reminder, if Rayquaza is the Legendary Pokémon defeated the most, Pokémon that like windy weather will hatch more until March 11. On the other hand, if Kyogre and Groudon are defeated more, Pokémon that like clear or rainy weather will hatch more.
Also, Niantic Support has provided some clarification on Legendary Week's ongoing sale. It was always unclear when the sale would end, as Niantic never announced it, but we now know that it will end on March 11.
SAFARI ZONE: The Safari Zone in Taiwan has concluded. From the footage that YouTubers have shared, it was Mr. Mime and Unown mania during the day, and Chinchou and Lanturn takeover at night!
Unfortunately, there were no reports of Shiny Chinchou or Lanturn. Niantic missed a great opportunity to release a new Shiny variant, as they have many times in the past. To see our March version of the Shiny Chart, click here.
