1. MEET MELTAN!
After it was leaked by Chrales and Ditto disguised as them appeared in large numbers after the Chikorita Community Day, the new Pokémon has been revealed by The Pokémon Company to be a never-before-seen Mythical Pokémon called Meltan.
We don't know much about Meltan other than it is a small, lightweight, Steel-type Pokémon. Meltan appears to be the new Pokémon that will be available in Pokémon: Let's Go via a gift sent to Pokémon GO, but we don't know for sure yet.

2. DEOXYS
The first wave of EX Raid Passes for Deoxys went out this week, and it was plagued by a serious glitch. Many of the Raid Passes were for an ongoing Raid, leading to Niantic cancelling the EX Raids and offering no way to reschedule. Let's hope the glitch gets fixed before the next wave of Passes goes out!

3. COMMUNITY DAY
The next Community Day will be on October 21, and has been revealed to be featuring Beldum. 25% Egg-hatching distance and three-hour Lure Modules will also be a part of the event. And thanks to the in-game news announcement, we know we have an additional hour after the Beldum spawns end to evolve a Metang to get a Metagross with its yet-to-be revealed exclusive move.

6. BRANDON TAN BANNED
The highest-ranked known player in the world, Brandon Tan, received a temporary suspension from Pokémon GO this week. We don't know why for certain, but it appears to be because of his "Mewtwo service." In a since-deleted tweet, Mr. Tan offered to log into your account to catch a Mewtwo for you. He would charge depending on the IV and quantity of the Mewtwo you wanted. Prices ranged between S$1 and S$500 (which is $0.73 to $365.60 in USD, according to Google's currency converter).
Such a service is against Pokémon GO's Terms of Service (TOS). The TOS forbids the selling of accounts or Pokémon. In our opinion, Niantic is clearly trying to send a statement that they will not allow this by banning Mr. Tan, especially since he's been outspoken at breaking the TOS in others ways in the past (referring to using trackers and owning multiple accounts).
Mr. Tan has not addressed the controversy on Twitter extensively. He has said that this ban could be a major blow to his motivation, and may not return to Pokémon GO after the 30-day ban ends. This suspension will make Mr. Tan unable to complete his quest to reach 2,000 Mewtwo Raids and miss out on the rest of Mewtwo month.
