ALOLAN RATTATA, ALOLAN RATICATE
Welcome back to Generation Preparation, Trainers! In this edition, we'll look at the Alolan forms of Rattata and Raticate. Let's begin!

The Rattata and Raticate living in the Alola Region we're becoming far too common. To deal with this, the people of Alola imported Yungoos and Gumshoos to control the Rattata and Raticate population. This caused Rattata and Raticate to adapt and become nocturnal.
SUGGESTED: What Will Alolan Golem Be Like in Pokémon GO? - Generation Preparation

RATICATE

  • CATEGORY: Mouse Pokémon
  • PRONOUNCED: RAT-i-kate
  • TYPE: Dark / Normal

PLACE IN THE META: Alolan Raticate will likely be just a Pokédex-filler, just like its Kantonian form. Raticate just doesn't have to stats to keep it on par with Pokémon like Rayquaza or Tyranitar. It may have been useful as a prestiger in the old Gym system, but its usability will be drained with the system no longer in place.

Alolan Raticate is a Dark-type and a Normal-type. This means that it is weak to Fairy- and Bug-type attacks, as well as very weak to Fighting-type attacks. It is resistant to Dark-type attacks, and highly-reistant to Ghost- and Psychic-type attacks.

LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Alolan Raticate:
  • Bite
  • Shadow Claw
  • Quick Attack

Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Alolan Raticate:
  • Crunch
  • Dark Pulse
  • Hyper Beam

Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Alolan Raticate's movepool:
  • Pursuit
  • Super Fang
Thanks for reading, Trainers! Stay tuned for more Generation Preparation coming very soon.
