After teases in promotional photos and leaks from the latest update, Niantic has officially confirmed that Lucky Pokémon are coming to Pokémon GO.
WHAT ARE LUCKY POKÉMON?: Lucky Pokémon are Pokémon that acquire a special trait after being traded. This trait allows Pokémon to be powered up with less Stardust than regular Pokémon. While not in the blog post, Niantic's support page for Lucky Pokémon says that these golden, shimmering Pokémon will be "strong[er] ... in battle."
IS THE FEATURE LIVE?: While the feature has been announced an the update made available on both the iOS App Store and Google Play Store, Lucky Pokémon are not yet available at the time of writing this article. There has been quite a bit of confusion about this online thanks to Niantic's word choice and some clickbait-y YouTube videos.
WHAT'S NOT ANNOUNCED: As we mentioned in the last Update Report, a new silver / platinum / metallic Pinap Berry was added to the code. There was nothing about this new Berry in the official post, so we may have to wait a bit to see it. It is worth noting that the Wepar, Bluk, Golden Nanab, and Golden Pinap Berries have also been coded in the past, but remain unseen.
OTHER NEWS: Something else was confirmed; Gifts will now give XP when sent, and Stardust is a possible Gift reward. Also, we finally have the trailer for the Pokémon GO trading system, which you can watch by clicking here.
