HiPPOPOTAS, HIPPOWDON
Welcome, Trainers! In this article, we'll be taking a look at the Ground-type Hippopotas and it's evolved form, Hippowdon.

Hippopotas and Hippowdon are known for burrowing around in sandy deserts and expelling sand from the valves on their body. These Pokémon also have a rather sizable gender difference, with each gender having a different coloration.

We expect Hippopotas and Hippowdown to take 3KM to earn a Candy as a buddy. We also expect Hippopotas to be available from 5KM Eggs.

PLACE IN THE META: Hippowdon may not be the most-used Pokémon, but it definitely has potential to be a good Pokémon in Pokémon GO. While it may not be the strongest Ground-type, it does have very well-rounded stats, and lacks any double weaknesses (something Garchomp, Golem, and Rhyperior cannot say).

Hippowdon is a pure Ground-type. This makes Hippowdon weak to Grass-, Water-, and Ice-type attacks, and resistant to Poison- and Rock-type attacks.

LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Hippowdon:
  • Bite
  • Yawn

Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Hippowdon:
  • Crunch
  • Dig
  • Earthquake

Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Hippowdon's movepool:
  • Giga Impact

LOOKING AHEAD: Looking beyond Generation 4, Hippowdon gains no evolution, Mega Evolution, or exclusive Z-Move.
Thanks for reading, Trainers!
