STARLY, STARAVIA, STARAPTOR
Welcome back, Trainers! In this article, we'll take a look at the Pidgeot family-equivalent of the Sinnoh Region, Starly and its evolutions.

Starly is the common bird of this generation. Because of this, we expect Starly to take 1KM to earn a Candy has a Buddy. We would not expect to find Starly in Eggs, but the common Pokémon of Hoenn have been in 2KM Eggs for some time now.

PLACE IN THE META: Staraptor is going to be an interesting addition to the game. For a common Pokémon, its Attack is very high. If it gets some strong moves (such as Final Gambit and Close Combat, two moves it's known for using in the main-series games), it could be a decent Pokémon.

Staraptor is a Normal- and Flying-type. This makes it weak to Ice-, Electric-, and Rock-type attacks, as well as "immune" to Ground-type attacks.

LIKELY MOVEPOOL: Out of the Fast Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Staraptor:
  • Quick Attack
  • Wing Attack

Out of the Charged Moves we currently have in Pokémon GO, the following are the ones that seem most likely to be given to Staraptor:
  • Aerial Ace
  • Brave Bird
  • Close Combat

Should Niantic add any new moves, the following are good candidates for Staraptor's movepool:
  • Final Gambit
  • Fly
  • Giga Impact

LOOKING AHEAD: Looking beyond Generation 4, Staraptor gains no evolution, exclusive Z-Move, or Mega Evolution.
