1. Eggstravaganza event
This year's Easter event is now ongoing. The 2018 Eggstravaganza features a sale, special 2KM Eggs, and double Stardust. Additionally, Shiny variants of Wynaut, Wobbuffet, Magby, Magmar, Togepi, and Togetic have been introduced.
The event will end at 1:00 P.M. PT on April 2, 2018, along with Lugia Raids. Speaking of Lugia, Lugia's Shiny variant was unavailable for the first few hours of the Eggstravaganza. Niantic has since fixed this bug or corrected their mistake, and made Shiny Lugia obtainable once again.

2. Community day
Today is Pokémon GO Community Day! The third event features Bulbasaur, which can now be found as a Shiny. Evolving a Bulbasaur all the way to Venusaur will award the exclusive move Frenzy Plant, but only during event hours. The event also features three-hour Lures and triple XP for catching Pokémon.

3. discontinued devices, scanners short-circuit
This week, a new version of Pokémon GO's API was forced. This means that the maps and scanners that show Raids and wild spawns are no longer able to work. While against terms of service, many people use these third-party trackers. Data experts estimate that these maps will be down for some time as their providers work around Niantic's new security measures. Additionally, some Apple devices have had their support for Pokémon GO discontinued.

4. Raid times extended
Reports indicate that Raid Battles are lasting longer. Raid Eggs have been spotted later in the night than ever before, indicating that Niantic has increased the time that Raids can appear.

5. unown at GDC
Increases Unown G, D, and C were spotted this week in San Fransisco, California, in celebration of the 2018 Game Developer's Conference. The spawn rates have since gone back to normal.
